I never really set out to become a TikToker.
I just started making videos, talking about things I noticed, having the odd rant and telling stories the way I’d tell them to somebody standing beside me.
Then something strange happened.
People started watching.
One video took off. Then another. Before I knew it, The Wee Derry Prod had passed 2 million views and built a growing community of people from Derry, across Northern Ireland and much further afield.
And I’ve learned something along the way.
The videos I spend hours planning aren’t always the ones people love.
Sometimes it’s the ten-second clip about something ridiculous I’ve spotted while driving through Carrickmore that gets shared hundreds of times. 😂
That’s probably what The Wee Derry Prod is really about.
Real life. Real stories. A bit of Derry humour.
No pretending everything is perfect. Some days I’m travelling around Northern Ireland with a glittery duck. Some days I’m talking complete nonsense. And occasionally I’m sitting in A&E wondering how I’ve ended up there again.
Now those millions of views are giving me an opportunity to do something worthwhile with the audience that’s grown around the page.
That’s where Reggie’s EUROSPAR Challenge, BRING BACK THE GOOD and supporting Cancer Fund for Children come in.
If people are willing to watch me talk rubbish…
I might as well try to do some good with it. 😂💛
And we’re only getting started.
