Welcome to Kinder Meadows—a non-profit, completely free sanctuary locatedin the Summer Meadows area of the Waterside, Derry. We offer exclusive, appointment-only visits and small birthday celebrations designed specifically for autistic children, young people with special needs, and their families.

Born From Personal Experience

Kinder Meadows isn’t just a project—it’s a personal promise. When our son Jack was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at the age of five, we quickly realized how difficult it was to find places where he could simply be himself. Traditional birthday party venues and public parks are often loud, crowded, and overwhelming for sensory-sensitive children.

We know first-hand the stress parents feel trying to navigate those environments, and the heart-wrenching feeling of having to leave early because of sensory overload.

Kinder Meadows is our way of giving back. We built this space to offer local families what we wished we had back then: a peaceful, secure, and understanding space where children are celebrated exactly as they are—at absolutely no cost to the families.

What We Offer

Every booking at Kinder Meadows is 100% free of charge and strictly by appointment only. When you book a slot, the entire venue is reserved exclusively for your family or small party (up to around eight children), ensuring complete privacy and zero sensory overload.

Gentle Animal Connections: Up-close, unhurried interactions with our resident animals in a calm environment.

The Koi Pond: A peaceful focal point on the grounds (open to view during warmer months before the fish rest for winter).

Fun & Play Areas: Features in progress including an off-road RC track, an outdoor gym area, and a relaxed ice cream bar.

Total Peace of Mind: Fully enclosed, safe grounds where parents and carers can relax without worrying about crowds, noise, or judgment.

Opening Summer 2027

We have already completed a massive amount of work on the site, but we are taking the time to get every detail right for our official opening in Summer 2027.

Because Kinder Meadows is a free community service built on passion and lived experience, help and backing from our local community mean the world to us. Whether you’re following our build, stopping by to see the koi pond, or lending a helping hand, thank you for being part of this journey with us.
